Project Tips

Write Everything Down.  Don't rely on your memory.  Keep an organizer with a note pad in it.  Jot everything down.  At the end of each day convert notes to "To Do" lists
, "Contact" lists, "Grocery" lists, etc.

Use Labels.  Label storage bins, file cabinets, food containers and boxes for more efficient use.

Consult a Professional Organizer or Closet Designer for your Closet Needs.  Successful organizing and closet design is a science.  A design that looks great "on paper" or an organizing item that looks great in a catalog may not function as you hoped in real life.  Consider the advice of an experienced organizer or closet designer.  They will be able to tell you Fact from Fiction.

Play Stimulating Music In the Background While Working.  Music improves productivity, reduces stress, and lightens mood.

Make Lists To Reach Goals.  Make a list of each step needed towards accomplishing a goal.  Cross off each step to see continued progress and to stay motivated.

Keep A Phone Log.  Each time you have a phone conversation with a business, write down the date, time, company, representative's name and issue discussed.  If you need to refer back to the phone call at a later date, you will have all of the important details.

When designing a closet, keep in mind that hanging clothes need 24" of depth.  For walk-in closets narrower than 72" wide, with hanging clothes on both sides, there will be 24" of walk space down the middle.  Consider placing shelving (12" or 14" deep) or drawers (14" or 16" deep) on one of the sides for more walk space down the middle.

Group Errands Together.  Instead of running just one errand, think of all of the businesses you will pass along the way.  Be sure that you aren't skipping errands that you could have taken care of.  Before you leave, visualize - or map out - the locations of the business you need to visit.  Plan out the most efficient route, given any time constraints.

Plan Projects For The Right Time Of The Day.  Plan big projects for a time of day when energy levels and ambitions are higher.  Smaller tasks for a time when energy levels are lower.
